LOGSCAN true shape
The LogScan® True Shape system is an advanced true shape measurement system for sawn timber.
Measurements are taken automatically by a set of 2, 3 or 4 3D optical heads, which field of view is modified as the log moves along a longitudinal conveyor. The measurements taken are used to determine the geometry, volume, presence of buttress and other parameters that are used in the classification and/or positioning of the pieces according to pre-established criteria.
LogScan® TS has a server-user-interface architecture, which gives it great flexibility of use and makes it easily connectable to any sorting line, in case it is used as a sorting system, or positioning system using OpTICAS software, in this case it is used as an optimization system.
- Information for each piece: diameters, length, volumes, curvature, taper, counterbore.
- Reports: production, log by log, stoppages, other options, customized with open database.
- Statistical information on screen: total number of pieces processed in the shift, total accumulated volume in the shift.
- On-screen help: online user manual and answers to common questions.
- Set up based on selection of optimization criteria: straight base, inscribed base, inscribed curve base, inscribed cylinder, product concept, sawmill parameterization, etc.
- Output signals: output for drive to bins, when the system is used in a sorter, or for drive to positioning systems, when used with some machine, visual and audible alarms to the operator.
- Measured length and nominal length.
- Diameter: thin end, thick end, minimum, maximum, useful or JAS.
- Volume: actual, Smalian and JAS.
- Curvature or crook of the piece.
- Taper of the piece.
- Counterbore.
- Assigned bin.
- Total number of logs.
- Total volume.
- Shift number, time and date.
- Caution or failure messages.
